A closed and competitive program that promotes Languages sustainability by providing grants to eligible Aboriginal Community organisations and groups funded in past rounds to support the continuation and growth of successful Language projects.

Program objective
By providing previous recipients of the Aboriginal Languages Sustainable Funding Program with renewed investment, the Program aims to support communities to:
- Continue and build on successful languages activities.
- Strengthen the capacity of Aboriginal groups and organisations who are doing language work, to the grow language activities.
This program is administered by Aboriginal Languages Trust.

Who can apply
Eligible applicants are limited to:
- The successful grant recipients from previous Aboriginal Languages Community Investments Program listed here.
- Applicants must be located in NSW and/or delivering a service to communities within
- Applicants must have public liability of at least $10 million per

When the project can start and end
The project should be started by 1 July 2024 and the project must be completed by 30 June 2025.
What costs you can apply for
• Employment of language experts to support delivery of language to community.
• Development of language resources and education packages.
• Holding community language workshop to strengthen cultural knowledge.
• Developing and delivering online language classes to community.
• Transcribing historical language recordings to support language revitalisation.
Who can’t apply
• Individuals.
• Federal and State Government agencies and bodies, including public schools and hospitals.
• Local Councils.
• Schools, Universities, TAFE, Adult and Community Education.
• For-profit organisations, including Aboriginal businesses.
• Unincorporated organisations or groups without an eligible auspicing organisation.
• Organisations that have not met project requirements, including acquittal and reporting for funding received from the Aboriginal Languages Trust or Aboriginal Affairs NSW in the previous two years.
What costs you can't apply for
- Capital purchases, such as buildings, construction capital works including renovations, or purchase of land.
- Purchasing or leasing large equipment including any type of

Address the eligibility criteria
Each applicant, as part of an application response, must confirm that they meet the eligibility criteria.
Applicants that do not address the eligibility criteria in full may be excluded from the application process at the department's discretion.
Address the assessment criteria
- Meets the aims and objectives of the Aboriginal Languages Sustainability
- Are Aboriginal controlled-owned, driven and supported, including evidence of local cultural authority for the activities.
- Demonstrated capacity to undertake and complete the Project; will include consideration of previous funding provided to the applicant by the Aboriginal Languages Trust or Aboriginal Affairs NSW.
- Fits within the applicants Community Language
- Will deliver outcomes against the community’s aspirations, taking into consideration existing resources available in language (if any) and how the languages activities can support the use of language in the home/or community environments.

Successful applications will be decided by: Executive Director, The Aboriginal Languages Trust
All applications will be screened for project eligibility. Ineligible applicants will be notified in writing.
Eligible applications will be assessed based on the assessment criteria, within two weeks of submission by a panel of ALT staff.
The Departmental Delegate, Executive Director, Aboriginal Languages Trust is the final decision maker based on the recommendations of the assessment panel.
