• From M2 Motorway / Lane Cove Tunnel: Motorists must use the Pacific Highway exit from Lane Cove Tunnel.
• From on-ramps south of Artarmon: Motorists must use the Pacific Highway.

CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS

Temporary traffic changes around the University of Wollongong and TAFE NSW will be in place from Monday 3 March to Friday 11 April 2025, to minimise congestion for the start of the university year. 

The temporary traffic changes are as follows:

• If congestion is observed on Irvine Street the Western entry detour will be implemented, and traffic at Irvine Street will be diverted to the University Southern Access Entry (formally Western Access) route via Murphys Avenue and Robsons Road during peak periods.  
• When this is in place Motorists accessing the M1 northbound ramp (towards Sydney) at Northfields Avenue during peak periods will be diverted via Murphys Avenue and Robsons Road. 
• Eastbound traffic will be held temporarily at roundabouts to prioritise motorists entering the University.

Bus access from University Avenue into Irvine Street will not be affected during diversions and outside peak periods traffic will continue to access the University via Irvine Street and Northfields Avenue.

Traffic controllers will be on site to direct motorists.

SPECIAL EVENT CLEARWAYS Sydney Trains Trackwork

Special event clearways will be in place at the following locations to facilitate Sydney Trains trackwork replacement bus operations.

• Chalmers Street, western side, between Cleveland Street and Devonshire Street
• Chalmers Street, eastern side, between Cleveland Street and Rutland Street

Clearways are strict no-parking zones for all vehicle types, and apply even to local residents and TfNSW Mobility Scheme Permit holders. Check signs carefully as vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies. If your vehicle is towed, you can search your vehicle registration at the Find My Car website to find its new location, or alternatively call 132 701 to speak to an operator.

Night work on the Pacific Highway Cudgen Tunnel will take place between Monday 24 March and Thursday 27 March from 7pm to 5am.

One Tunnel carriageway will be closed each night with traffic being diverted though the other tunnel under contraflow. Each direction will be reduced to one lane with a reduced speed limit.

This work has been rescheduled from 10-13 March due to ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
