Information for professional development (PD) providers
Changes to Accredited PD course requirements
Overview of the changes
Effective from 16 August 2024 the professional development (PD) requirements for teachers maintaining Proficient, Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher accreditation have been changed.
NESA has removed the Accredited and Elective PD categories to give teachers more flexibility in completing their 100 hours of professional development. Read more about the changes to professional development requirements for teachers.
As a result, the Accreditation of Professional Development Courses Policy has been retired and NESA will no longer accredit PD courses. The status of all currently accredited courses will be phased out over the next 2 years.
How will this impact PD providers
- NESA Accredited courses will remain accredited.
- The accreditation status of all courses will be phased out as their accreditation expires.
- Providers of accredited courses can continue to promote courses as NESA Accredited PD until their accreditation expires.
- NESA will no longer be accepting applications to deliver NESA Accredited PD.
- NESA has created a list of recognised PD providers. If your organisation has a current NESA Accredited PD course, it has automatically been placed on this list.
- Providers of accredited courses can continue to upload teacher participation in eTAMS.
