Find out about due dates for non-government school Teacher Accreditation Authority (TAA) applications.
Applications for approval as a Teacher Accreditation Authority (TAA) are due by Tuesday 31 March 2020 for:
Online application forms for TAA approval will be available from 14 October 2019 on RANGS Online.
For assistance accessing RANGS Online, please call the School Registration and Accreditation Directorate on (02) 9367 8432.
The requirements and processes for approval as a TAA under the Teacher Accreditation Act 2004 are detailed in the Guidelines for the Regulation of Teacher Accreditation Authorities for Non-government Schools and Early Childhood Education Centres (‘the TAA guidelines’).
On 1 January 2016, a new regulatory framework for approving TAAs for non-government schools and early childhood education centres became effective.
Under transition arrangements, non-government schools seeking initial or renewed registration to commence from 1 January 2021 are required to have a TAA approved under the new framework.
The TAA Guidelines can be downloaded from the Teacher Accreditation Authorities section of the NESA website, where you can also find:
The school registration and TAA renewal processes will be risk-based and integrated, where possible.
The supporting materials to be provided by a TAA as part of an application and during inspection will vary according to a risk assessment (similar to the one applied to non-government schools seeking registration).
For TAAs not yet approved under the new regulatory framework, the application and inspection process will consider compliance with all requirements and associated evidence.
For TAAs that have been approved under the new regulatory framework, the process will vary in line with any relevant indicators of risk. In these circumstances, Inspectors will provide specific advice to the TAA.
