Amendments to School Registration Manuals (Nov 2022)

The amended manuals have been approved by the Minister as rules of NESA under section 25 of the Education Standards Authority Act 2013.

The amendments take effect with the publication of this Official Notice.

The amendments respond to changes to the Teacher Accreditation Act 2004 which include NESA becoming the sole teacher accreditation decision maker.

The manuals required amendment to reflect the change to the teaching legislation. The amendments:

• relate to the teaching staff requirement
• remove the need for non-government schools to have an approved teacher accreditation authority
• clarify evidence of compliance required of schools as they support teachers in attaining and maintaining teacher accreditation

Amendments have been made to:

• sections 3, 3.2.1, 4 and 4.1.2 of the Manual for individual non-government schools
• sections 5, 5.2.1, 6.1 and 6.1.2 of the Manual for systemic non-government schools
• sections 4 and 4.1.1 of the Manual for government schools

Other minor administrative updates have been made to references to:

• Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulations
• National Construction Code
• Secondary College of Languages

The requirements are detailed in the relevant registration manuals for non-government schools and the government schooling system.
