2a. EOI process to replace outgoing HSCG members
Members were advised that NESA published information about the EOI process on its website on 15 June 2023. The EOI process was discussed further in agenda item 4a.

a. EOI process to replace outgoing members
NESA published on its website the EOI process to replace outgoing members on 15 June 2023. This EOI process was open until 14 July 2023.
Subsequently, a panel was formed to review submissions. NESA plans to finalise the EOI process in September.
All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their Expression of Interest once the panel finalises its decision and the current HSCG members will have an opportunity to meet new members at the next HSCG meeting on 8 November 2023, which will be face to face.

b. NSW Curriculum Reform
HSCG members were introduced to an additional Senior Curriculum Project officer, Padraig Connolly. Padraig will help with the development of resources for home schooling families to transition to new NESA syllabuses developed under the NSW Curriculum Reform.
HSCG members were provided with an update on:
- syllabus implementation timelines for 2024 and subsequent syllabus implementation timelines
- resource development for home schooling families
- minor planned changes to NESA’s home schooling website regarding the Curriculum Reform.
HSCG members were provided with an opportunity to provide their feedback on the current NESA home schooling website.

Members were advised that the number of children registered for home schooling has remained steady, although there was a slight decline in comparison to the beginning of the year.
Members were also advised that data indicates that the percentage of initial and renewal periods of registration along with applications withdrawn, appears to be aligning more closely with pre COVID-19 data.

An HSCG member shared that they had recently attended the NESA parent roundtable meeting regarding the NSW Curriculum Reform and provided a brief update to members about this.
Action arising: Members were advised that an overview of NESA’s Parent Roundtable and its purpose would be provided at the next HSCG meeting
