The online consultation survey was open from 28 October 2019 to 30 November 2019. There were 254 responses in total. An overview of preliminary trends in the responses was reported. Members were advised that survey comments are currently being analysed and a finalised report will be provided prior to the first meeting of the HSCG in 2020.
Action arising: A finalised report to be provided to members prior to the first meeting of the HSCG in 2020.
The issues raised at the last HSCG meeting when HEA representatives were in attendance were discussed for the benefit of those HSCG members absent from that meeting.

Themes from the 2019 meeting, hosted by NESA in August, were shared and discussed. Representatives from each state and territory are currently planning the 2020 meeting, with details yet to be finalised.

The review of the Guidelines for Home Schooling in NSW will be a key theme for the first two meetings in 2020. Other items were proposed and members were invited to provide these and other suggestions by email, for possible inclusion.
Action arising: Members to provide suggestions by email.
The HSCG self-assessment questionnaire was distributed and will also be emailed to all members. It was requested that completed questionnaires be returned to NESA by 18 January 2020.
Action arising: NESA to provide a summary report at the first meeting in 2020.
8a. NESA Board and executive appointments
Members were informed that following Mr Tom Alegounarias’ decision to retire at the conclusion of his current term on 31 December 2019, Professor Peter Shergold AC has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the NESA Board. Six new members have also been appointed to the Board. Mr Paul Martin has been appointed as NESA Chief Executive Officer.

8b. Operational report
It was requested that NESA consider the inclusion of an ‘Home Schooling Unit Operational Report’ as a standing item on future HSCG agendas.
Action arising: Agenda item to be added for future meetings.
8c. Meeting dates 2020
The following meeting dates were proposed:
- Friday 20 March
- Friday 26 June
- Friday 18 September
- Friday 4 December
Action arising: Members were asked to provide feedback on these dates by 18 January 2020.
