The Thematic Review of Writing investigated how primary and secondary teachers teach writing.

The review found that teachers have gaps in their knowledge, skills and confidence when teaching writing.

The way teachers teach writing is important for students’ success. Students need to write clearly and purposefully to show what they know. If students don't have strong written skills, then their learning will be affected.
