This policy aims to ensure that all workers understand the expected standards of behaviour, their legal rights and responsibilities concerning workplace sexual harassment, and the necessary steps to prevent and address such behaviour.
The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) is committed to safe, respectful, and inclusive work environments, free from sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is unlawful and prohibited by the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) and the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth) and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Both Acts apply to NSW government sector employees.
Sexual harassment is also contrary to the ethical framework for government sector employees outlined in the Government Sector Employment Act 2013 (NSW) and the Code of Ethics and Conduct for NESA employees.
This standalone prevention policy calls attention to what sexual harassment is, how it manifests in workplaces, and our shared responsibility to prevent sexual harassment and foster safe and respectful work environments.
