The Australian Curriculum sets consistent national standards to improve learning outcomes for all young Australians. In addition, the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority acknowledges the gap in learning outcomes between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their non-Indigenous peers.
To support all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people in achieving these goals, education ministers have agreed to the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Strategy 2015. This strategy prioritises seven interdependent priority areas.
