Australian Professional Standards for Teachers

These Standards outline what teachers should know and be able to do. Learn about the three teaching domains the Standards are grouped in, and how they apply to the different levels of teacher accreditation.

Australian Professional Standard for Teachers contains seven standards that are interconnected and overlapping.

The Standards are grouped into three domains of teaching:

  • professional knowledge
  • professional practice
  • professional engagement.

These are then separated into Standard Descriptors at four professional career stages:

  • Graduate
  • Proficient
  • Highly Accomplished
  • Lead.
