How you can pay for NSW Ambulance
You will need to pay NSW Ambulance if you have used their services.
For example, if they took you to hospital.
NSW Ambulance will send you an invoice.
An invoice is a document that includes:
a list of services that you need to pay
the amount that you need pay.
You can pay NSW Ambulance in the myAmbulanceFees portal on the revenue NSW website.
You can pay NSW Ambulance from your bank account.
You can find information about how to do this in your invoice.
You can pay NSW Ambulance over the phone.
You can pay NSW Ambulance at a post office.
You can find a post office near you on the Australia Post website.
You can also pay NSW Ambulance in the mail. For example, by sending a cheque.

You will need to pay your NSW Ambulance invoice as soon as you can.
You might need to pay more if you don't pay on time.
When you don’t have to pay
When you don't have to pay for a service, we call it an exemption.

There are some people who might not have to pay for NSW Ambulance services.

If you have a concession card
You might not need to pay NSW Ambulance if you have a concession card.
This is a card from the government that gives certain people a discount on some services.
Concession cards include:
- health care concession cards
- pensioner concession cards
- Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
- Department of Veteran Affairs Card.
If you have one of these cards, you don't have to pay for any services you use for an emergency.
An emergency:
- is a dangerous situation
- something you don't expect to happen
- can put your health and safety at risk.
You will need to share your concession card number when you ask for an exemption.
You can ask for an exemption through the myAmbulanceFees portal on the Revenue NSW website.
If you have health insurance
You might not need to pay NSW Ambulance if you have health insurance.
Insurance is a service you pay for to protect you if something goes wrong.
If you have insurance and something goes wrong, your insurance company can pay the cost.
You will need to give your NSW Ambulance invoice to your health insurance provider.
You will also need to fill out a form that asks your health insurance provider to pay the invoice.

If you don't live in NSW
There are different rules for people who were visiting NSW when they used the NSW Ambulance service.
If you live in a different state or territory, you need to contact the ambulance service where you live.
You need to ask the ambulance service if they have an agreement with NSW Ambulance.
The ambulance service will tell you:
- if you can get an exemption
- how you can get an exemption.

If you live in another country, you will have to pay the full cost for using NSW Ambulance services.
When you can’t pay
If you can't afford to pay NSW Ambulance, you can ask them to review the invoice.
When someone reviews an invoice, they check to see:
how they made a decision
if they need to change a decision.
You can also ask NSW Ambulance to review the invoice if:
- there is a reason why you shouldn't pay
- you think NSW Ambulance made a mistake.
After they review an invoice, they might:
make the cost of the service less
decide you don’t need to pay.
