Tractors: Conditional registration, uses and equipment

Conditional registration gives you limited road access to perform specific functions.

You cannot get conditional registration if a vehicle complying with the Australian Design Rules can be used to perform the same function. See information about vehicle standards to check what standards apply.

To drive a tractor, you must hold a Car (Class C) licence.

Oversize or overmass dimensions

Vehicles that go beyond the dimension and weight limits must comply with the conditions of the relevant access notice or permit. To find out the conditions for:

Acceptable uses for tractors

Acceptable ways of using a tractor include (but are not limited to):

farming
farming contracting
roadside mowing
road and earthworks
beach cleaning
shopping trolley collection.

Conditions of use

The following minimum conditions apply to conditional registration.
