Argo-weed sprayer
Find out about conditional registration, acceptable uses and equipment requirements for an Argo weed sprayer.
Argo weed sprayers need to be conditionally registered to be used on public roads and road-related areas.
Conditional registration gives you limited road access to perform specific functions.
You cannot get conditional registration if a vehicle that complies with the construction and equipment requirements of the Australian Design Rules can be used to perform the same function.

Oversize vehicle operators
Vehicles that go beyond the dimension and weight limits must comply with the conditions of the relevant access notice or permit. To find out the conditions for:

Vehicle requirements
Argo weed sprayers must meet all the following vehicle conditions to apply for conditional registration:
- The Argo will be used mostly off-road and away from road-related areas, but needs limited access to the road network.
- The Argo must be approved for such operations by its manufacturer.
- The spray tank must be compatible with the Argo and not destabilise it under specified operating conditions; this applies regardless of the percentage the spray tank is filled to.
- When full, the combined weight of the spray tank and the operator must not exceed the Argo’s maximum load limit specified by the manufacturer.
- The Argo configured with the spray tank and ancillary equipment must not be operated on slopes that exceed the manufacturer’s specifications for such operations.
- The Argo operator must undertake accredited training in operating the Argo.
- The applicable local council or week control authority, golf club, other private property owner, state or federal agency must provide a letter confirming that they are responsible for ensuring that all the above conditions are met at all times.
- If operating in national parks, restricted to specific areas of operation approved by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.
Conditions of use
The following minimum conditions apply to conditional registration.

Lighting
All lighting must be fitted as near as possible to the position specified in Schedule 2 of:
- Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2017 for light vehicles, or
- Heavy Vehicle (Vehicle Standards) National Regulation (NSW).
