Navigation warning
Due to substantial rain and flooding of inland and offshore waters and tributaries from Port Stephens to the Victorian border, there are a significant number of navigation hazards in these waterways including trees and submerged and floating debris. These hazards combined with dangerous currents means dangerous conditions for recreational boating.
Navigation markers to guide skippers around hazards may have been washed away and/or be out of place and some navigational channels may have changed.
Vessel operators are strongly encouraged to avoid using the waterways until the current conditions and flooding subsides. In circumstances where this advice cannot be adhered to, vessel operators are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating in these waterways including monitoring the available depth of water levels and avoiding strong flows.
This navigation warning remains in place until further notice.
