Navigation Warning
Vessel operators are advised that a semi-submerged pipe crossing the navigable channel between Terara and Pig Island has been discovered. This pipe is part of sand dredging operations in the area and may cause a hazard/obstruction to navigation.
Vessel operators are advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating in the area, particularly during times of restricted visibility.
NSW Maritime are working with the owners of the operation to mark the pipe, however, the hazard will remain unmarked for a period of time and this advice remains current until further notice.
Directions
Vessels are required to comply with all signage and buoyage. Failure to comply is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.11(4) - Maximum Penalty $5,500 in relation to wash and $1,100 for any other case).
