The Works
Transport for NSW advises vessel operators that Maritime and Civil, on behalf of Coffs Harbour International Marina, will be undertaking dredging work in Coffs Harbour at the eastern end of the Coffs Harbour International Marina (as depicted in map) from Thursday, 7 November 2024 to Tuesday 31 December, 2024, weekdays from 7:00am to 6:00pm and on Saturdays from 7:00am to 1:00pm. No works will occur on Sundays and Public Holidays. Dredging operations will be conducted during daylight hours only.
The dredging operation involves the removal of up to 2000 cubic metres of clean sand from the eastern end of the Marina lease and placement of the sand on the beach at the eastern end of the Marine lease.
Navigation Restriction and Warning
The barge and associated support vessels will display appropriate day shapes. Yellow buoys with flashing yellow lights will mark the works area and associated pipeline. The Coffs Harbour main channel, Boat Ramp, Marina, Fisherman’s Co-op, Boat Yard and Government Vessel Berths will remain open at all times to boaters.
Vessel operators are advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating in the vicinity of the works, and pay particular attention to the dredge work vessels, lighting, dredge pipe locators and information signage. This navigation warning remains in place for the duration of the works.
Directions
Vessels are required to comply with all signage and buoyage. Failure to comply is an offence (s 11(4) of the Marine Safety Act 1998 – Maximum Penalty $5,500 in relation to wash and $1100 in any other case.)
Persons within the vicinity of the Works must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
