The Works
Transport for NSW advises vessel operators that Martinus Rail will be undertaking modifications and alterations to the Lachlan River Bridge which spans the navigable waters of the Lachlan River at Forbes from Monday, 9 September 2024 to Monday, 31 March 2025 as specified below:
Above Deck
- 28th Aug – 10th Sept 2024
Site Establishment
Minimal to no works above water.
Standard Working Hours:
M-F: 7am – 6pm
Sat: 8:00am – 1:00pm
Sun: Working on Sundays and Public Holidays by exception. - 09th – 13th Sept 2024
Scaffold Erection
Mainly installation of scaffolding above the bridge deck.
Standard Working Hours:
M-F: 7am – 6pm
Sat: 8:00am – 1:00pm
Sun: Working on Sundays and Public Holidays by exception. - 13th – 18th Sept 2024
Crane Lifts
Crane lifts above water during possession.
Standard Working Hours:
M-F: 7am – 6pm
Sat: 8:00am – 1:00pm
Sun: Working on Sundays and Public Holidays by exception.
Below Deck
- Dec 2024 – March 2025
Works on Underside of the Bridge
Scaffold Erection & bridge strengthening works.

Navigation Restriction and Warning
Vessel operators are advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating in the vicinity of the works, and to pay particular attention to work vessels involved in construction works and any advisory signage including signage advising of construction zones and exclusion zones. Potential impacts to the navigable waterway during the works may include partial or full waterway closures including exclusion zones.
This navigation warning remains in place for the duration of the works.
Persons within the vicinity of the Works must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance and speed from the works and operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence (Marine Safety Regulation 2016 – clause 11(2) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00).
