Wave monitoring buoy deployment

Vessel operators are advised that the Department of Planning and Environment has deployed a wave monitoring buoy on the navigable waters of the Tasman Sea at Moruya, approximately 500 metres offshore from Bengello Beach (located at approx. 35°52480 and 150°09392).
The buoy is being deployed on Friday 9 June 2023 and will remain in place until further notice.
The installation includes a yellow solar powered wave monitoring buoy which will be lit at times of restricted visibility, displaying a flashing yellow light and accompanied by yellow/orange floats.
Vessel operators are advised to exercise caution when navigating in the vicinity of the buoy, especially during times of restricted visibility.
Unauthorised use or interference with the buoy, such as securing a vessel, is an offence and penalties apply.
