Full driver licence
Have you held your P2 licence for at least 24 months and are you ready to move onto your full licence? Here's what to do.
Getting a full licence
To apply for your full (unrestricted) licence, you must:
- have held your P2 licence for at least 24 months
- prove your identity
- pass an eyesight test
- pay the licence fee, unless you’re eligible for a concession.
Suspensions on green Ps
If you receive a demerit point suspension or a suspension for high-risk driving, an additional 6 months for every suspension received will be added to your provisional licence.
The suspension time does not count toward the 24-month period that P2 licence holders must complete. See Learner and provisional driver demerit points.
Converting an interstate or overseas licence
If you hold a licence from another Australian state or territory, or from overseas, you will need to convert it to a NSW licence. See Moving to NSW.
Higher licence classes
Once you have a full car licence, you may wish to upgrade to a higher class of licence to allow you to drive heavier vehicles. See Getting a heavy vehicle licence.
Important: if you’re driving passengers for a fare or other form of payment (regardless of the class of licence or vehicle) you must also hold a Public passenger vehicle driver authority.
