Driver Knowledge Test online accessibility
The Driver Knowledge Test online offers accessible features so it can be accessed by the widest possible audience including people using assistive technologies.
Accessibility features
Driver Knowledge Test online (DKT online) has been designed to meet Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version (2.1) Level AA. This ensures it is accessible to as many people as possible, including:
- people with disabilities who may use assistive technologies
- people with slower internet connections or less than state-of-the-art equipment
- people with non-PC internet devices including handheld devices and mobile phones.
DKT online includes these accessibility features:
- Images and content - Images have alternative text and headings are tagged in the correct order and content and images meet colour contrast requirements.
- Videos – Videos provide clear, synchronised captions and audio files have transcripts.
- Responsive on devices - Content is fully responsive and resizes on any device and text size can be increased by up to 200 percent.
- Keyboard operability - Functionality of the content and assessments, including interactive elements and clickable images are operable through a keyboard.
- Focus on content - When a user interface control receives focus, a visible border or animation is displayed around it.
- Hover and zoom - Hovering over images in the learning content will zoom in to highlight important parts of a scene.
- Text to speech functionality - Reads the content out if switched on so it can be used by people with low literacy and dyslexia. This function aids focus, comprehension and reduces eye fatigue.
- Plain English feedback - When a test or quiz question is incorrect, clear feedback is provided explaining the correct answer and content is written in plain English so it is easy to understand.
