Mona Mahamed is a dedicated mother of 6 and passionate teacher. Recognising a gap in support for women recovering from depression and PTSD, Mona established Community Support Services Inc (CSS) in Bankstown using her own funds.
Under her leadership, CSS serves 13,000 community members, offering programs for culturally diverse women and girls. CSS's Village Pantry provides essentials like food hampers and clothing, while its skills program offers certifications in cooking, hospitality and sewing.
Mona was a finalist for NSW Local Hero at the Australian of the Year Awards 2023, and was named a 2024 Tomorrow Maker with the AMP Foundation and 2024 Bankstown Local Woman of the year.
