
Dr Yeon Jae Kim is a role model for young women aspiring to be research-clinicians. She graduated high school at 14 and completed her Bachelor of Medical Science, Doctor of Philosophy, and Doctor of Medicine degrees by age 25.
Her research has identified promising treatments for preeclampsia and heart disease, a leading cause of death in Australian women. As a clinician and lecturer, Yeon Jae trains students and contributes to patient safety initiatives.
A passionate humanitarian, Yeon Jae also volunteers with organisations supporting refugee children, second-chance education and Indigenous languages. Her advocacy for equity, diversity and inclusion earned her the Edmund Barton Graduate Medal for Postgraduate Leadership.
