Definitions
Avoidable deaths | Preventable mortality is defined as causes of death that can be mainly avoided through effective public health and primary prevention interventions |
Life expectancy | Life expectancy is a statistical measure of the average time a person is expected to live, based on the year of birth, current age, and other demographic factors like sex |
Reconciliation | Reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians |
Self Determination | Self-determination is the right of all peoples to 'freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development” |
Truth-telling | Truth-telling is an opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to record evidence about past actions and share their culture, heritage and history with the broader community |
