The competition opened last December and called for local photographers to submit images of Crookwell’s iconic wind turbines that are part of the scenery surrounding the Crookwell township.
Crookwell resident Jeffery Vaughan won the competition with an image of a wind turbine set atop a hill in a lush green paddock. Windellama resident Michael Lees placed second, and Crookwell resident Jessica Cosgrove placed third.
Crookwell District Hospital Senior Nurse Manager Debbie Hay said the competition was originally going to announce one winner; however due to the many great entries, first, second and third places were announced.
“Due to having so many fantastic entries, we decided to find an additional two walls to feature the photographs,” she said.
“Both Jeffery’s and Michael’s submissions will be featured in the ED refurbishment, while Jessica’s will feature in the Palliative Care Ward refurbishment, which is anticipated to commence in March 2022.
“The owners of the winning entries will be asked to provide their signature so it can be incorporated into their mural, and we’ve arranged for the Goulburn-based company Studio 4 to create the murals from the winning photographs.
“We thank all the participants for submitting their stunning entries and wish to congratulate the winners.”
The murals for the ED have been booked to be installed in the last week of February 2022.
The NSW Government’s $2.5 million Crookwell District Hospital refurbishment includes:
- improved Emergency Department (ED) with increased acute treatment space capacity
- enhanced ward areas, including patient rooms and bathrooms
- medical equipment upgrades, including ECG machines, defibrillator and a transport ventilator
- new floor covering in the Hutton Wing
- painting works
- increased nurse-call capacity
- upgrade to the Wellness Centre.
