The fly-through reveals an open, bright and contemporary design for the Stage 2 building and showcases how it will seamlessly connect with the Stage 1 tower currently under construction.
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, Chief Executive, Kay Hyman says this once-in-a-generation $1 billion hospital redevelopment will transform the way communities in Penrith and Blue Mountains access care - bringing world-class services much closer to home.
“The design of the new Nepean Hospital building – both Stages 1 and 2 – is a culmination of extensive consultation with our community,” says Kay.
“Our community will be cared for now and well into the future. Our staff and consumers have worked alongside the lead design team so we can have innovative new services for our growing region.”
A range of essential health services will be delivered in Stage 2 including a new intensive care unit, in-centre renal dialysis unit, medical imaging and nuclear medicine services, cardiology services, community health, as well as a new hospital main entry and front of house.
Construction of the Stage 1 Nepean Hospital Tower continues.
As one of the tallest hospital buildings in Australia, the Stage 1 tower will include an expanded Emergency Department, 18 birthing suites, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, more than 16 operating theatres, 200 additional beds, and a brand new rooftop helipad – which most recently had its first successful test landing.
The Stage 2 building will start construction following the commissioning of Stage 1 next year.
