With COVID restrictions seeing the cancellation of previous years events, budding gardeners are lining up to tour the spectacular gardens on show and celebrate everything that blossoms in the Blue Mountains.
Since its foundation in 1965, the Festival has gone on to generate over $3 million to support local health organisations including Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital.
Blue Mountains Hospital General Manager, Dr Liz Harford welcomes the return of the festival to the region and the support it has given the hospital over the years.
“It goes without saying that whenever you think Spring in the Blue Mountains you think of the Leura Gardens Festival. It has been such a mainstay in the local area for years and a comfort to many. It is great to see it return,” says Liz.
“We have such a lovely relationship with the Festival Committee and their generosity over the years to help improve the patient experience has been nothing short of incredible. I look forward to their continued support of the hospital in helping us deliver the best care to our community.”
Previous donations from the Leura Gardens Festival Committee have provided expansion of the Administration offices and more recently seen refurbishments to the Blue Mountains Hospital’s Gymnasium and Allied Health Centre and upgrades to their pneumatic tube system.
