Anyone can apply to Local Land Services to request a property information search. These requests are often made by solicitors, conveyancers, brokers, agents, or the general public when purchasing a property.
A Property Enquiry Certificate will be issued to certify the accuracy of the information supplied.
What property information can be requested?
You can request a property search for information on:
- Local Land Services annual rates that may be outstanding
- animal health issues (adverse affectations)
- chemical residues (adverse affectations)
- any orders that have been issued relating to the land (contact your local office).
How to request a property enquiry certificate
Choose the type of property search request that suits your needs.
- Combined Property Enquiry Certificate request
- Use the following form if you need to request information on both outstanding rates and adverse affectations (this is the most common request when purchasing a property).
- This search will cost $120.
- You will receive two Property Enquiry Certificates (these may be issued separately).
- Single Property Enquiry Certificate request
- Use the single search request form to request information on either outstanding rates or adverse affectations.
- This search will cost $60.
- You will receive one Property Enquiry Certificate.
Submit a combined property enquiry certificate request
A separate request is required for each holding. You can submit this form more than once.
Frequently asked questions
Information about rates, animal health and chemical residues, and orders are relevant to freehold land title properties only. This information isn’t relevant to properties on strata or community titles (for example, apartments).
- Outstanding rates search requests can take up to 5 business days to be processed.
- Animal health and chemical residues (adverse affectations) requests can take up to 15 business days to be processed.
Each property enquiry certificate will be emailed upon completion. You may receive your outstanding rates search certificate separately to your adverse affectations enquiry certificate.
- Each property search request costs $60.
- A separate request is required for each holding.
Rates
Local Land Services can provide information on Annual Rates that are currently outstanding on a landholding - this includes the amount payable, and the person liable to pay.
Animal health and chemical residues
Local Land Services can provide information about animal health or chemical residues associated with the property (adverse affectations), as listed in Part 3 of Schedule 3 to the Conveyancing (Sale of Land) Regulation 2017 and Biosecurity Act 2015.
Orders
Local Land Services can provide any orders that have been issued relating to the land. This covers orders that have been issued by Local Land Services or the previous Livestock Health and Pest Authorities and Catchment Management Authorities.
Please note that many of the orders issued by Local Land Services, and the previous Livestock Health and Pest Authorities or Catchment Management Authorities apply to a district or the whole state. Information about them may be publicly available online, therefore an order request may not be needed.
