Message to tenants
A message to tenants from Minster Jackson about the 2024–25 NSW Budget.
Hello,
I just wanted to let you know about some of the exciting announcements we made in this week’s NSW Budget.
I think it’s really important that tenants are able to access up to date information about Government announcements which is why I wanted to share this with you.
The Building Homes for NSW Program is the largest ever state based investment in public housing in NSW history.
This once in a generation program will directly build thousands of homes across our state to confront the housing crisis and re-build our public housing system.
The Building Homes for NSW Program will:
- Fix and repair 33,500 public homes making them safe, comfortable and livable - this is the biggest investment in maintenance ever.
- Bring the maintenance call centre back in-house to end the double handling and poor service - putting our community back in control.
- Build 8,400 new public homes across NSW - good quality, comfortable and sustainable homes we can be truly proud of.
- Invest in homelessness services and properly fund crisis accommodation.
- And much more!
You can read more about the program on the Building Homes for NSW webpage.
This is only the beginning of the work we have to do - I know things won’t change overnight, but this is a big step forward in making the lives of tenants better and providing safe, comfortable homes for all.
I also wanted to thank all the people and tenants who have been strong advocates for more funding and support for public housing - this wouldn't have happened without you.
As always I’m very open to feedback and comments so please send them through and if you do see me around please say hello - I’d love to chat!
Sincerely,
Rose Jackson
