Hunter New England LHD
Welcome to Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD).
We provide public health services to the Hunter, New England, and Lower Mid North Coast regions.
Spanning 25 local government areas (LGAs), we are the only District in NSW with:
- a major metropolitan centre
- a mix of several large regional centres
- many smaller rural centres and remote communities within its borders.
Our District is home to 973,653* people, including 87,941* Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Child, youth and family health
Our Children, Young People, and Families Service provides a wide range of healthcare services for babies, children, young people, and their families to meet their evolving needs.
We connect hospital and community health services across Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Maitland, Upper Hunter, Lower Mid North Coast, and New England regions, bringing together specialised health professionals.
We offer various child health services, including mental health support, in hospitals and community settings in Cessnock, John Hunter Children's Hospital, Kurri Kurri, Maitland, Manning, Muswellbrook, Newcastle, Scone, Singleton, and Tamworth.
