This Local Land Services initiative is designed to increase productivity, improve biodiversity and protect market access.
Madeleine Florin has been appointed by Local Land Services as the Natural Capital Advisor for the Greater Sydney region.
She is dedicated to helping land managers identify ways to improve their natural capital, and be rewarded for this, including helping to understand the benefits and potential risks of participating in environmental markets.
Madeleine brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in sustainable land management and community engagement. She is ready to share her experience with our farming community.
“I’m really looking forward to supporting people in navigating this space, helping them enhance their property’s natural assets, experience on-farm benefits, and explore environmental markets with a clear understanding of both opportunities and risks. Natural capital offers an exciting perspective on the value of natural assets, especially for peri-urban properties.” said Madeleine.
As part of its new Natural Capital Program, Local Land Services is hosting a series of engaging Natural Capital workshops across Greater Sydney region. These events are designed for landholders looking to increase the value of their land’s natural assets whilst improving productivity and managing, restoring and protecting the environment.
Upcoming events will feature expert speakers, practical workshops and valuable networking opportunities with farmers who are leading the way in natural capital.
- Natural Capital: Recognising the value of healthy soil, Richmond Lowlands, 5 September
- Natural Capital on Camden Town Farm: Managing agriculture, environment and community use, Camden, 6 September
- Creating Canopies: What does tree planting have to do with natural capital, Bilpin, 21 September
- Recognising the value of healthy riparian areas, Central Coast, 16 October
Madeleine will be present at each event to provide insights and answer questions on finding the right opportunities, connecting with trusted advisors, and making informed decisions for your property.
“The most common question I receive from landholders is, ‘What is natural capital?’ These events will introduce the basics of natural capital, explain what it means for landholders, and give you new ideas on how you fit into this conversation. You’ll also learn about the support we offer,” Madeleine added.
