Privacy Collection Notice for Microsoft Teams users and logging into DCS services
This page provides a privacy collection notice for users of Microsoft Teams and those logging into services provided by the Department of Customer Service.
Personal information we collect
The Department of Customer Service collects your personal information to provide you access to the systems we administer.
If you work for another NSW Government agency that is part of GovConnect, that agency will also collect and have access to the same information.
The personal information collected may include your:
- name
- work email address and telephone number
- date of birth
- Government Employee Number
- employee ID
- approximate location based on IP address
- web traffic, including content of some sites you visit
- network activity, including login/logout, systems used, information accessed
Why we collect personal information
We collect information so we can provide technology services efficiently, safely and securely.
The information will be used to provide identity and access management services and related applications by DCS as the service provider to NSW government agencies.
How we use and disclose your personal information
We use personal information to:
- Provide technology services, which will include use by third-party contractors acting on our behalf where we retain control of the information
- Comply with our regulatory obligations, such as records management
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity and access of our systems and data resources
How we disclose your personal information
Your personal information may be disclosed to other parties if required under law, such as in response to a court order or to a valid search warrant.
Do you have to provide your personal information
You are under no legal obligation to provide your personal information, however, if you do not, you will not be able to access systems that are critical for your role.
How to access and update your personal information
You have a legal right to access and update your personal information. You can usually do this through accessing the relevant system and updating your own details or by logging a ticket with the system maintainer.
If that is not possible or you do not know the system maintainer, contact the DCS privacy team with the details listed below, we will refer your request to the relevant business area or agency if we do not hold your information.
Other collection, use and disclosure where we may not notify you
Under privacy legislation, there are certain exemptions and exceptions allowing us to collect, use and disclose personal information without giving you notice. These are outlined in our Privacy management plan. We are not required to, and it would likely be impossible to list all these scenarios.
There should be no expectation of privacy or anonymity when using our systems. We will have access to personal information you choose to access on or add to our systems, even if it is not related to work, such as if you choose to use your device to access your webmail account or upload personal photographs to DCS storage.
