We grow, empower and strengthen arts
At Create NSW we grow, empower and strengthen the arts, screen and culture sector.
We're part of NSW Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport.
We recognise the value of art and culture
From helping artists after the Lismore floods to supporting major projects like Walsh Bay cultural precinct, we understand the importance of art and culture in people's lives.
Together our programs help promote excellence, access and strength. They help to:
Reflecting diversity
We're proud to support the creative ideas and artistic talent we have in NSW. This includes programs servicing regional NSW, Western Sydney and Aboriginal art and culture.
We cater to diverse artforms, from performance art to visual art to music.
"Our vision is for NSW to be known for its bold and exciting arts and culture that engages the community and reflects the state's diversity."
We provide grants and funding

We provide cultural infrastructure
Under the NSW Government's cultural infrastructure program, we provide places for the arts to flourish in NSW.
As part of our infrastructure program, we
- provide new fit-for-purpose facilities for people to produce and experience art
- oversee more than $2.3 billion in cultural infrastructure projects
- invest in cultural facilities and public art where people live, work and play
- manage a portfolio of arts and heritage properties.
Our projects include Sydney Opera House Renewal, Sydney Modern (Art Gallery of NSW) development, Walsh Bay Arts Precinct redevelopment, and the Powerhouse Museum program. These, along with smaller projects, help to increase access and excellence in the arts.
Some of the cultural infrastructure projects our teams are implementing involve:

We collaborate and engage
Creation and collaboration are at the heart of what we do.
Our team regularly engage with the arts and culture sector, business, government and communities. This helps Create NSW to:
- drive conversations about arts and culture
- innovate and grow the sector and creative industries.
By getting out in communities across NSW, we listen, learn and understand the role of art in our everyday lives.
By engaging with architects, advocates, business and institutions, we help coordinate, innovate and support world-class projects shaping arts and culture into the future.
