Overview of this event
NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages 'Community Corrections Services Connect day' is an initiative providing support to help individuals obtain a birth certificate.
Birth certificates are an essential pathway to regain identification, open a bank account, join sporting clubs, apply for a job, and to reinstate a driver licence or a passport.
Ensuring vulnerable adults have a birth certificate as soon as possible makes it easier for them when moving forward and navigating life.
In some situations, there are barriers to accessing birth certificates, such as financial costs or living in a remote community.
‘Community Correction Days’ help to break these down and ensure people have access to this vital form of identification. The Registry works closely with local community corrections offices across NSW.
