The independent review of Local Decision Making (LDM).
- assessed LDM’s strengths
- identified opportunities for enhancing its effectiveness in achieving its goals.
- compared existing AANSW policies with the ongoing Closing the Gap (CtG) priority reforms and targets.
The review had two main components:
- Literature Review of LDM:
- Examined published and unpublished literature related to LDM.
- Outlined how LDM can align with other initiatives and emerging policy settings
- Highlighted the importance of self-determination for positive outcomes in Aboriginal communities.
- Made recommendations for strengthening LDM implementation, including enhancing government and regional alliance capacity.
- Strategic Mapping:
- Demonstrated alignment between LDM Accords (agreements between Aboriginal Regional Alliances and the NSW Government) and Closing the Gap socio-economic targets and priority reforms.
- Jointly delivering the outcomes committed to in Accords will support Closing the Gap in NSW.
- A PowerPoint presentation summarized the strategic mapping work.
