Who we are

Connected Communities is part of the Community Engagement Group in the NSW Premier's Department. We focus on strengthening social cohesion and democracy, as well as overcoming hate and extremism in NSW. We do this by working in partnership with community and faith leaders, local government, academics, and civil society.

NSW, alongside the rest of the world, has faced unprecedented challenges over recent years. From the COVID-19 pandemic to natural disasters like fires and floods, these shocks have deeply impacted our sense of togetherness, individual and community well-being, and our relationships with key institutions.

The NSW Government has a deep and ongoing commitment to build on the strengths of our communities and continue to foster and maintain community cohesion and connectedness.

To achieve this, the Connected Communities team in the Premier’s Department partners with communities, faith and cultural leaders, local councils, civil society organisations, academia, and the private sector to design and implement programs that aim to strengthen social cohesion in NSW.
