The Cottage Museum in Rylstone collects, assesses and preserves objects relative to the early history of the district.
The museum is housed in a simple 1890s weatherboard home built for local blacksmith, James Nash. The house was saved from demolition by RDHS and moved from its original site at the Rylstone Showground to its present position in the Bridge View Inn Precinct in 1984.
The museum displays focus on domestic and rural life. They include costume, rustic furniture, kitchen and small farming tools, schooling and musical instruments.
Also on display are photographs of local pioneers, the town and district encompassed by the old Rylstone Shire boundary.
