Lifejacket care and service program
Servicing your inflatable lifejacket is a legal requirement in NSW. Transport for NSW offers step-by-step instructions on how to do it yourself.
About our program
As part of the NSW Government's 'Wear a Lifejacket' campaign, and in line with the Maritime Safety Plan, Transport for NSW provide information and step-by-step instructions on how to care for your inflatable lifejacket. They also provide general safety advice through free in-personworkshops and online information sessions, video demonstrations, podcasts, and social media.
Our Boating Education Officers also promote awareness of lifejacket care and servicing requirements at key boating locations, waterway facilities and at events such boating and regional shows across New South Wales.
Lifejacket workshops
Interact with our expert Boating Education Officers to learn how to care for and service your lifejacket. Our staff provide engaging demonstrations that cover everything from basic maintenance to self-servicing inflatable lifejackets.
You can take advantage of the opportunity to ask our Boating Education Officers anything related to boating and waterway safety, plus grab hard copies of some boating safety resources like the Boating Handbook, safety checklists, and labels.
Workshops will be conducted at the locations below (no need to book, just show up with your lifejacket). Please check this page regularly as workshops will be updated and locations added during the boating season.

Online lifejacket demonstrations
Explore lifejacket care and service requirements from the comfort of your home through our online demonstrations.
Our Boating Education Officers will guide you through the essential steps of caring for and servicing your inflatable lifejackets, showing each step of the self-service process in detail. You will also have the opportunity to interact with our staff and ask questions to help increase your understanding of how to care for your lifejacket.

Boating organisations, clubs, marinas, retailers, and stakeholders can request for a lifejacket workshop or online demonstration to be delivered to their members and staff tailored to their group.
