Royal Visit to NSW by His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla

The NSW Government will welcome His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla for an official visit to the state.

The King and Queen will spend time in Sydney when they travel to Australia from Friday 18 October to Wednesday 23 October before travelling to Samoa, where Their Majesties will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

There will be an opportunity for the public to meet or see The King and Queen in Sydney, at the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour on Tuesday, 22 October.

Their Majesties, accompanied by the Premier of NSW, Chris Minns and Mrs Minns, will visit the Sydney Opera House where they will engage with members of the public on the Forecourt, at 4:20pm.

Following this, there will be a Fleet Review on Sydney Harbour including an Australian Defence Force fly-over. Their Majesties, accompanied by the Governor-General, Chief of the Defence Force and Chief of Navy, will conduct a review of His Majesty’s Australian Ships Hobart, Warramunga, Arunta, Gascoyne, and Yarra, which will be anchored in the Harbour.

The entry point to the Sydney Opera House precinct will open to the public from 3:00pm and large crowds are expected.

Will there be security screening at the Sydney Opera House and restrictions on what I can bring?

Yes, security screening will be required to enter the Sydney Opera House precinct.

Please note, no large bags, banners or umbrellas are allowed on site.

What are the transport and parking arrangements?

Public transport is the best way to get to the Sydney Opera House. Members of the public should plan ahead and leave the car at home, if possible.

The Sydney Opera House is a six-minute walk from Circular Quay station, which is regularly served by public buses, trains and ferries to Circular Quay.

While gifts are not encouraged, in line with the Palace gift policy, gifts of a non-commercial nature and flowers may be facilitated, subject to security screening.

Is there an accessible viewing area at the Sydney Opera House?

Yes, there will be a designated accessible viewing area reserved for people with disability and/or accessibility needs to enjoy the event with their family and friends.
