New paramedics and call takers join NSW Ambulance

The NSW Ambulance recruits were welcomed today at a ceremony at Sydney Olympic Park attended by family and friends, and will start their new roles in the coming weeks.

NSW Health Minister Ryan Park said the new starters form part of the NSW Government’s commitment to ensuring NSW Ambulance continues to deliver world-class out-of-hospital care.

“This is the fourth NSW Ambulance class of paramedic interns and call takers graduating this year, and reinforces this government’s commitment to providing outstanding healthcare to the people of NSW, wherever they live,” Mr Park said.

The university graduate paramedics will be located across NSW for 12 months to complete their internships before taking permanent postings in metropolitan and regional areas, while the call takers will be posted to Triple Zero (000) centres in Sydney, Dubbo and Charlestown.

NSW Ambulance Chief Executive Dr Dominic Morgan said the new starters were joining a dedicated team.

“These new recruits will join a staff of almost 7000 at NSW Ambulance who share a commitment to serving their communities all over NSW,” Dr Morgan said.

“We’re excited to have them on board to help us to continue to provide the best possible care to the community.”
