Flicking the switch on Portland's new generator

Patient comfort is guaranteed at Portland Tabulam Health Centre with the procurement and installation of a new emergency power generator ensuring essential power can be provided all year round when required.

The new generator installed at Portland Tabulam Health Centre

The 220KVA Cummins diesel generator was installed at the facility by our Total Asset Management - Facility Development Project team, providing constant power supply capabilities to the facility.

Prior to the generator’s installation, Portland Tabulam Health Centre experienced frequent blackouts due to an unreliable power grid. The new generator fixes this issue by being able to support 100 per cent of the building’s power load during a power outage, automatically switching on once the power to the building is cut.

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Capital Works Manager, Kevin Madeiski says “I am extremely proud to be able to deliver such a vital and much needed piece of equipment to the district. This will now ensure that service provision in a power outage can be maintained without impact to patients, residents, staff, and visitors”.

With an asset life of approx. 20 - 25 years. Portland Tabulam Health Centre is now assured of long-term reliable emergency power.

The diesel-powered generator project was funded by the NSW Health Infrastructure Asset Refurbishment and Replacement program.
