Review of Biodiversity Conservation Act
What’s this about?
The Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 aims to protect and conserve biodiversity in NSW while helping ecologically sustainable development.
NSW is home to a variety of plants and animals, as well as the habitat in which they live. Biodiversity underpins the health of our planet, wellbeing, the economy and our livelihoods.
The statutory review of the Biodiversity Conservation Act is an opportunity to consider issues and improve biodiversity conservation in NSW.
Independent experts have developed a consultation paper that outlines questions for you to consider when giving your feedback.
Real life examples of how the Biodiversity Conservation Act may or may not work in practice are encouraged, as these will improve our understanding of the key issues.
A report on the outcome of the review will be tabled in each house of NSW Parliament by 24 August 2023.
The public is invited to view and comment on the review.
