About the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program

The Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program is designed to deliver transformational change and improved liveability across 15 Western Sydney LGAs. Discover more about the focus areas.

The $2 billion Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program (formerly known as WestInvest) is funding transformational infrastructure projects to improve liveability across Western Sydney. 

A total of $2 billion has been awarded to community projects. This includes: 

  • Local Government Allocation – Approximately $400 million made available to the 15 eligible LGAs to advance local projects, with each local council eligible for between $20 million and $35 million, depending on population size. 
  • Competitive Round - $1.6 billion allocated through a competitive round of grants open to non-government organisations, including community groups, not-for-profits, Local Aboriginal Land Councils and local councils.

Quality green and open spaces

More parks and healthier natural environments that encourage active lifestyles, restore biodiversity and improve access to the environment. Cleaner natural waterways with improved access for recreation.

Community infrastructure

Improved access to quality sport, recreation and other community facilities that bring people together and enable a diverse range of activities.

High street activation

Increasing the vibrancy of precincts to increase footfall for businesses. Targeted improvements to public amenities and allowing easier access to essential goods and services within walking distance.
