Program objective
Delivering Better Outcomes aims to help achieve progress against Closing the Gap SEO targets and PRs by providing funding for programs and initiatives run by Aboriginal organisations.
The NSW Government recognises Aboriginal organisations are best placed to run programs that will impact Aboriginal communities and create sustainable opportunities for Aboriginal people in NSW. The NSW Government wants to empower these organisations by providing funding and resources to run programs that will deliver meaningful and lasting change.

Approved for NSW Aboriginal Land Council T/A The Yarpa Hub
This project aims to increase the number of Aboriginal businesses providing goods and services to Local Government. This will be achieved through the transformation of a Metro LGAs current Aboriginal procurement practices, whilst strengthening the capability, capacity and competitiveness of Aboriginal businesses that operate within the LGA. The project aligns to Priority Reform 3 - undertaking a comprehensive review and analysis of current Aboriginal Procurement Practices and develop a range of strategies and policies that drive organisational change. The project also aligns to Priority Reform 5: contributing to the growth and sustainability of Aboriginal businesses through increase procurement opportunities with the LGA.

This project promotes the use of Aboriginal businesses through raising awareness of the APP among procurement officers, and of the practice of black cladding. The outcome of the program is to create space for Aboriginal businesses to emerge as competitive and sustainable businesses. This project delivers on the key action areas of Priority Reform 3 by assisting government organisations to transform their approach to Aboriginal procurement, and in particular, the practical application of the APP and further alignment to the key action areas of both Priority Reform 5 and Socio-Economic Outcome 8, through the enablement of greater supply chain access and opportunity for Aboriginal businesses.

This project will establish a sustainable Aboriginal-led mentoring support program across NSW for three identified cohorts, being Aboriginal businesswomen, small Aboriginal businesses looking to grow and scale, and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) looking to activate independent income streams. The multi-cohort approach of this project aligns to the key action areas of both Priority Reform 5 and Socio-Economic Outcome 8, through the sustainable provision of mentoring, key information and support channels to ensure each cohort is enabled to make high-quality decisions, scale and grow their businesses. This project also delivers on the key action areas of Priority Reform 2 and Socio-Economic Outcome 15, by assisting the participating ACCOs to establish strong business processes for income diversification and growth.
