Pods on private property
The Pods on Private Property Program provides temporary housing support to eligible residents of the Cabonne, Forbes and Parkes shires who have had their homes severely impacted by the 2022 floods.
Since early 2023, over 130 pods have been provided by the NSW Government at no cost.
Applications close on 17 January 2025. If you are interested in applying for the program, email housingtaskforce@reconstruction.nsw.gov.au
Due to differences in geography, population and property type, pods are only available on private property for eligible residents in the Central West.
How properties are assessed for the Pods on Private Property Program
Properties will be assessed according to multiple eligibility criteria. If you apply for the program, a member of the NSW Reconstruction Authority Housing Taskforce will work through the eligibility process with you.
Timeframes for the Pods on Private Property Program
When applying for a pod, the assessment and installation timeline will depend on a number of factors, including the:
- needs of the individual or family
- location of the pod
- availability of a suitable pod
- weather conditions.
If you apply for the program, the NSW Reconstruction Authority will work with you to determine assessment and installation timeframes, as these will differ throughout the region.
At-home caravan program
At-home caravans are available to residents in the Central West who are unable to live in their homes due to flood damage.
Residents who lived in the Central West area before the November 2022 flood are eligible for the program.
The caravans are located on the resident’s private property or can be located on a rental property with permission from the landlord. They can also be located on someone else’s private property (family and friends) with their permission. Properties are assessed to make sure they can safely accommodate a caravan.
The caravans are provided at no cost under a hire agreement. You'll still need to pay your regular bills like water, electricity and sewage.
How to apply for the At-home caravan program
Applications close on 17 January 2025. Residents can email caravans@reconstruction.nsw.gov.au for application forms and more information.
How properties are assessed for the At-home caravan program
Not all properties are suitable for caravans. Properties will be assessed on criteria such as the size and slope, and available services.
If your property was assessed as unsuitable, you can submit further information to:
- Camplify – phone 1300 416 133
- NSW Reconstruction Authority – phone 1300 003 227 or email caravans@reconstruction.nsw.gov.au
