Renew vessel registration
How to renew your boat or personal watercraft registration in NSW, online, in person or by phone.
When to renew
You need to renew your vessel registration every 12 months in NSW.
You’ll receive a renewal notice from Transport for NSW around 30 days before the registration is due to expire.
You can renew registration up to 90 days before the expiry date.
What if your registration has expired?
Don’t drive the vessel until it’s registered. Operating an unregistered vessel is an offence with heavy penalties.
If the registration is not renewed by the expiry date, a reminder notice is issued between 15 and 21 days of the expiry.
If your vessel registration expired more than 90 days ago, you can renew it in person or by phone. There are no late renewals online.
What you need
You will need:
- your registration number
