The Residential Eating Disorders Centre is a statewide facility located in Charlestown, providing specialised eating disorder treatment.
About us
baiyangbaiyaang is a specialist eating disorder service incorporating the NSW Residential Eating Disorders Centre (located in Charlestown) and the Eating Disorders Day Program (located in Newcastle). Both programs are located and operated within Hunter New England Local Health District and accept referrals from across NSW.
Our services
The Residential Eating Disorders Centre (REDC) is a 12-bed standalone, purpose-built facility which offers a homelike environment for people needing a more intensive treatment approach.
NSW residents aged 16 years and over with a diagnosed eating disorder, who meet criteria for an admission, may stay for up to 12 weeks, pending progress. A mix of group and individual therapies is provided using a holistic rehabilitation framework.

Location

Newcastle is the second biggest city in NSW offering access to a wide range of services and activities, including beaches, shopping, entertainment, and healthcare, all within a supportive community.
Getting there
REDC is easily accessible by road, located about 15km from Newcastle CBD and 3 hours from Sydney. The centre is well-serviced by public transport, with bus and train options available. Parking is also available on-site for residents and visitors.
REDC is an approved provider under the NSW Isolated Patients Transport and Accommodation Scheme (IPTAAS) which provides travel and accommodation subsidies for eligible applicants.
