Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) is pleased to welcome Loesje Scholz, our newly appointed NSW Medicines Formulary Change Lead.
Loesje is responsible for ensuring a safe, effective and efficient transition from the existing local formulary into the new NSW Medicines Formulary across all MLHD sites.
“This initiative will ensure consistency of medication across the state allowing patients to have safe, consistent and equitable access to medication across all NSW Health sites,” Ms Scholz said.
“The program also aims improve patient safety by across the state, including the dispensary, reporting and monitoring of medications and outcomes. This will also enable staff to work at any site across NSW knowing what medications are available.”
Loesje is a senior oncology pharmacist with 14 years’ experience in hospital and community pharmacy practice.
Before joining MLHD, she was the Pharmacist-In-Charge at Albury Wodonga Private Hospital and a Senior Oncology Pharmacist at The Border Cancer Hospital.
She has completed an honours dissertation in ‘Retaining Pharmacists in Rural and Remote Areas’ and has been part of the Border Cancer Hospital Research Team, which currently administer 60 medication trials.
In addition to completing the Accelerated Leadership Performance Program via Women & Leadership Australia and the Australian School of Applied Management.
Loesje is skilled in the development and rollout of a variety of programs and policy and brings with her a wealth of experience including the implementation of Medication Management Plans and establishment of the Oncology Pharmacy department at the Border Cancer Hospital.
Loesje has extensive knowledge of medication formularies having been involved in Medication Safety Committees, Drug and Therapeutic Committees as well as a member of hospital accreditation teams.
She is an advocate for Enterprise Risk Management Systems and believes it enables a pattern of incidents to be seen and push for change and development of safer processes.
Loesje will be based in Corowa Hospital and looks forward to meeting with our pharmacy teams across the district in the coming weeks.
